Admission Requirements and APS Calculation
CUT calculates your Admission Point Score (APS) using your top seven National Senior Certificate (NSC) subjects. Unlike many other institutions, CUT includes Life Orientation in this calculation.
How to Calculate Your CUT APS:
- Seven Subjects: Include English and six other subjects (including Life Orientation).
- Point System:
- 80%–100% (Level 7) = 7 points
- 70%–79% (Level 6) = 6 points
- 60%–69% (Level 5) = 5 points
- 50%–59% (Level 4) = 4 points
- 40%–49% (Level 3) = 3 points
- 30%–39% (Level 2) = 2 points
- 0%–29% (Level 1) = 1 point
- Minimum Scores: Most Diploma and Degree programs require an APS between 27 and 32. Specific programs, particularly in Engineering and Health Sciences, have mandatory requirements for Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

Prepare digital copies of these documents before starting your application. Files must be clear and legible, with a maximum size of 5MB per document.
- Identification: A copy of your South African ID or a valid passport for international students.
- School Results: * Current Grade 12 learners: Final Grade 11 results or June Grade 12 results.
- Completed Matric: Final National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent.
- Returning Students: If you previously applied but did not register, you must re-apply with your updated information.

1. Visit the Official Portal
Go to the CUT Online Application page. Select “New Application” if you have never applied before, or “Re-apply” if you have an existing record on the system.
2. Enter Personal Details
Complete the biographical sections accurately. Ensure your email address and cell phone number are correct, as CUT uses these for all official communication, including Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via the iEnabler system.
3. Select Your Programs
You can choose up to two academic programs. Ensure you meet the specific faculty requirements for both choices by checking the 2027 CUT Undergraduate Prospectus.
4. Upload Documents and Submit
Upload your digital files in the “Electronic Attachments” section. Once all stages are marked as complete, submit the form. You will receive a confirmation email containing your CUT Student Number.
How to Check Your Application Status
CUT begins communicating application statuses from January 14, 2027, following the release of the final NSC results. You can monitor your progress through the CUT iEnabler self-service portal.
