CPUT Student Portal: Easy Login Guide for Students

The CPUT Student Portal, often referred to as Student Online Services (SOS), is the official digital gateway for enrolled students at CPUT.

How do I log in to the CPUT Student Portal?

1. On the SOS login page, fill in your student number and click Request a PIN.
2. Your PIN will be emailed to the address you provided when you registered.
3. Enter the PIN exactly as received, and then log in.

You may have a limited number of attempts to request a PIN. If repeated attempts fail, contact the CPUT helpdesk for assistance.

What can I do inside the CPUT Student Portal?

Once you are logged in, the Student Portal lets you:

1. Register for modules for the current academic year.
2. Check subject registration and academic progress.
3. View your academic results and timetables.
4. Print or download a Proof of Registration (POR).
5. Update personal information such as contact details.
6. View and pay your fees online if supported.

Can prospective students use the portal to check their application status?

Yes. The SOS portal is also used by prospective and returning students to track application and registration status. 

Once you start an application or have accepted an offer, you can log in with your student number to confirm whether your application has been processed.

If you are newly admitted but not yet fully registered, you may still use the portal tools linked on the CPUT website to view your status. Make sure to use your correct student number and ID details.

How do I reset my CPUT portal password?

If you forget your portal password:

1. On the login page, look for the Forgot/Change Password link.
2. Enter the required details, such as your student number or registered email.
3. Follow the instructions sent via email to reset the password.
